Photo: Active U and you ... and you, and you

Bill Ellsworth, local area network administrator for Michigan Administrative Information Services (MAIS), gets into position for a tree pose during a Power Yoga class put on by M-Fit. Beginning Feb. 6, Ellsworth and other faculty, staff and graduate students across all three U-M campuses could turn exercise and other physical activity into a fun, friendly competition, when Active U returns for a second year. Registration for the program that encourages members of the campus community to START IT UP, STEP IT UP and KEEP IT UP begins Jan. 8. Information will be sent prior to the launch to explain how to sign up. Organizers hope to outdo last year's participation during which more than 8,600 people logged more than 12 million exercise minutes and raised some $36,000 for charity. Active U is a program of Michigan Healthy Community. (Photo by Lin Jones, U-M Photo Services)
