School of Education hosts national conference
The School of Education will host a national conference, “Understanding and Strengthening the Contributions of Higher Education to a Changing Society,’’ March 22-25.
It will join top scholars, researchers, and practitioners from within and outside of higher education, to mark the 50th anniversary of the U-M Center for the Study of Higher and Post Secondary Education.
Speakers will include: William Bowen, senior research associate and president emeritus of the Andrew W. Mellon Foundation; former U-M Provost Paul Courant, the Arthur F. Thurnau Professor Economics Department and Ford School of School of Public Policy; William Darity, research professor of Public Policy studies, African and African-American Studies and economics at Duke University; and John Seely Brown, former chief scientist and director of the Palo Alto Research Center for Xerox Corporation.

Working Mother founder to speak at U-M Hospital
Carol Evans, founder of Working Mother Media, will speak about the work-life balance that working mothers seek to achieve, from 1:30-3 p.m. March 26 at Dow Auditorium in University Hospital. She will also field questions.
Evans, who serves as chief executive officer and president of Working Mother Media, has since 1978 helped grow advertising revenues from $100,000 to more than $14 million. She also launched the Working Mother 100 Best Companies, a benchmark for women in corporate America. Evans has appeared on “The Today Show,” “The Oprah Winfrey Show” and “Good Morning America.”
