Rahim AlHaj, oud, and Souhail Kaspar, percussion, perform at 8 p.m., March 23 at Rackham Auditorium. Born in Iraq, AlHaj studied under the renowned Munir Bashir, considered by many to be the greatest oud player ever. Forced to leave Iraq due to his political activism, he eventually settled in the U.S. as a political refugee in 2000. AlHaj performs with Lebanese percussionist Kaspar.
