Mstislav Rostropovich, who made 11 University Musical Society (UMS) appearances over 42 years, will be honored posthumously with the 2007 UMS Distinguished Artist Award at the 12th annual Ford Honors Program Gala at 6 p.m., May 12 in the Biomedical Research Science Building, 109 Zina Pitcher Place. This black tie benefit supports the UMS arts education program. After a reception in the building atrium there will be a concert in the auditorium honoring Rostropovich's legacy, followed by dinner at 8 p.m. in the six-story atrium.
