Free screenings available on Dental Health Day Nov. 11
Residents of Ann Arbor and surrounding communities are invited to receive free oral screenings and learn more about proper oral health care Nov. 11 at the School of Dentistry.
Dental and dental hygiene students and faculty members will team up between 9 a.m. and 1 p.m. to provide free x-rays, oral cancer screenings, tooth-decay examinations and instructions on proper oral health care to individuals regardless of income and as young as 5 years old. Treatments will not be provided.
No appointment is necessary. Patients will be seen on a first-come, first-served basis. The school is at 1011 N. University Avenue on the Central Campus.
“This is a great opportunity for the public to learn more about the status of their oral health.,” says Clark Downey, a third-year dental student who is directing the program. He advises anyone who learns they need follow-up care to arrange it with the dental school or their family dentist.
Patients attending Dental Health Day can park for free that day in the Patient Parking Area (upper level) at the Fletcher Street Parking Garage next to the School of Dentistry. Although they will receive a parking ticket at the gate, they will not have to pay.
For more information about Dental Health Day call the U-M School of Dentistry at 763-6933 or toll-free (888) 707-2500.
