Detroit admissions relocates to Orchestra Place

To increase its visibility and accessibility among area students and families, the U-M Detroit Admissions Office has relocated to the U-M Detroit Center, 3663 Woodward Ave.

The office serves students and families through numerous outreach efforts and in one-on-one or family appointments in preparation for higher education. It has served the metropolitan Detroit area since 1990, previously at the Rackham Building (across from the Detroit Institute of Arts) and the New Center One Building.

"Our move to the U-M Detroit Center is an opportunity to consolidate U-M resources in one place, which will enable the community to link into the University's support and outreach services at one central location," says Tyrone Winfrey, associate director of the Office of Undergraduate Admissions and director of the Detroit Admissions Office.

"Our relocation will enhance the ability of the University to support the community."

The U-M Detroit Center is on the ground floor of Orchestra Place. It includes offices and space for classes, meetings, exhibitions, lectures and collaborative work, and provides a home for students and faculty working on projects of service to the city and people of Detroit.

The center sits at the corner of the busy Mack Avenue/Martin Luther King Boulevard/Woodward Avenue arts and education corridor, along with Wayne State University and the College for Creative Studies, as well as cultural destinations like the Max M. Fisher Music Center, the Detroit Institute of Arts, the Detroit Science Center and the Charles H. Wright Museum of African American History.
