News BriefsNominations sought for DPS committeeStaff nominations are being accepted through May 2 for candidates to the Department of Public Safety Oversight Committee, which considers grievances against any public safety officer deputized by the University. The six-member committee comprises two students, two faculty and two staff members (one union and one non-union), nominated and elected by their peers for two-year terms. The term of the non-union staff member expires this year. The findings and recommendations of the committee are reported to the Office of the Executive Vice President and Chief Financial Officer. Staff members not represented by unions may nominate themselves or another non-union-represented staff member. Nominees will be contacted by Staff Human Resources for their consent to run in the June election. Appointment of the newly elected non-union staff member to the committee takes place in July. To submit a nomination online go to hr.umich.edu/dps. For more information call 763-2387.
