Educational partnerships and outreach at heart of center mission

With a designated location and the appointment of its founding director, the Center for Educational Outreach and Academic Success is beginning its work. An outcome of the Diversity Blueprints Task Force report of 2007, the center is charged with promoting and coordinating educational and community outreach and engagement activities, and strengthening partnerships between U-M and K-12 school systems and communities in the state. University to add 25 interdisciplinary junior faculty members

The University is moving forward with the hiring of 25 new junior faculty members, the initial phase of a five-year, $30 million initiative to add 100 tenure-track positions in areas that advance interdisciplinary teaching and research. President Mary Sue Coleman and Provost Teresa Sullivan have approved funding for faculty positions in six cross-disciplinary areas, chosen from among 39 proposals submitted by academic units across campus. New dean for Taubman College of Architecture + Urban Planning

Monica Ponce de Leon, professor of architecture and director of the Digital Lab at the Harvard Graduate School of Design, has been named dean of the A. Alfred Taubman College of Architecture + Urban Planning (TCAUP). Her appointment, announced April 29 by President Mary Sue Coleman and Provost Teresa Sullivan in review and discussion with the Board of Regents Personnel, Compensation and Governance Committee, will take effect Sept. 1 pending full board approval.
