Don't miss: SCOR Conference focus is 2008 presidential race

The Students of Color of Rackham Graduate School (SCOR) will host its 18th annual conference on Feb.15-16 at the Horace A. Rackham Graduate School.

In addition to a series of seminars, attendees will hear the keynote address "Beyond Black and White: New Paradigms for Race Research." Frank Wu, renowned legal scholar from Wayne State University, will present the talk at 1:30 p.m. Feb. 15. Wu is the author of Yellow: Race in America beyond Black and White. The U-M graduate is dean of Wayne State University Law School.

The focal point of the conference is the 2008 presidential campaign. As the election date approaches, many candidates are declaring themselves agents of change and promise to bring fresh perspectives to Capitol Hill.

The Conference theme, "Lifting Smoke Screens, Dropping Knowledge," speaks to a desire to bypass conventional interpretation of national and global issues, and to aim for unique, in-depth analysis, organizers say. The conference will open with a diverse panel of faculty followed by a social event. Day two will consist of a full day of scholastic seminars and a keynote address.
