Dental students to provide free services Feb. 2

School of Dentistry students team up with faculty Feb. 2 to provide free oral health care services to children from low-income families. The services are offered as part of the American Dental Association's annual "Give Kids a Smile" program.

From 10 a.m.-2 p.m., dental and dental hygiene students and faculty will provide cleanings, simple fillings, X-rays and sealants at the school, 1011 N. University, on a first-come basis. It is not necessary to make an appointment.

Registration opens at 9 a.m. and the program is limited to the first 100 children between the ages of 5-12. Participating children, who must be accompanied by a parent or legal guardian, will receive a free oral health kit containing toothbrush, toothpaste, floss and information on oral health.

Free parking is offered at the Fletcher Street parking structure in the Patient Parking Area (upper level). The structure is adjacent to the School of Dentistry. Patients arriving at the gate must press the green button for the gate to rise. Although they receive a parking ticket, they will not have to pay.

For more information call 763-6933 or (888) 707-2500.

The program is made possible with gifts from Colgate, the Michigan Dental Association and the Washtenaw District Dental Society. For more information go to
