AccoladesAwardsTwo faculty members recently were awarded fellowships at the American Academy in Berlin. Named as Anna-Maria Kellen Fellows were Anne Carson, professor of classics, English and comparative literature, who is pursuing her project Prometheus in fall 2007, a translation of "Aeschylus"; and Elizabeth Sears, professor of art history, pursuing her project In My Father's House in spring 2008. The National Tropical Botanical Garden will present the Robert Allerton Award to Professor William Anderson of the University Herbarium at its trustee meeting Oct. 8 in St. Louis. The award consists of a bronze medal and an honorarium of $1,000. Allerton is curator emeritus of vascular plants and professor emeritus of botany, Department of Ecology and Evolutionary Biology. Dr. David Campbell Jr. was scheduled to receive the Eisenberg Award, named for a national patient safety and health care quality pioneer, Sept. 27 in Washington, D.C., from the National Quality Forum, a broad public-private organization that includes members from all health care sectors. Transplant surgeon Campbell has worked to make surgery a safer experience for patients around the country through cooperative efforts that involve surgical teams at more than 170 hospitals.
