Photos: Art & Design show starts Sept. 10 at Institute for the Humanities

To celebrate the Institute for the Humanities 20th anniversary, the Institute's fellows from the School of Art & Design are presenting works inspired by their interdisciplinary research, for display in the exhibit 20 years, 8 Fellows: Art & Design at the Institute. It opens Sept. 10 and can be viewed from 9 a.m.-5 p.m. Monday through Friday through Oct. 19 at the Institute for the Humanities, 202 S. Thayer St. The exhibit is free and open to the public. Featured are the works of eight fellows from the School of Art & Design: Jim Cogswell, mural; Tirtza Even, videos; Sadashi Inuzuka, ceramics; Andrew Kirshner, performance; Joanne Leonard, photography; Patricia Olynyk, prints; Marianetta Porter, photo/text; and Ed West, photographs. An opening reception is scheduled for 4:30-6 p.m. Oct. 3. Among works on display are, at top right, an excerpt from Kirshner's "Life and Death," (Photo by Peter Smith Photography) West's "Badiah," (Photo by Ed West) and bottom, Inuzuka's, "Voice, 2006," (Photo by Sadashi Inuzuka).
