New computing guide available

Information Technology Central Services has released its 2007-08 InfoTech Service Guide. This publication details computing services available to students, faculty and staff, and is produced each year by the ITCS Communications Group. Easy-to-read section headers and improved map resources are among additions, along with updated descriptions about the basic computing package, e-mail services, online file management, faculty and staff educational discounts on computing equipment and more. Guides are being distributed with the Residence Halls Computing Program Networking Guide, and through Undergraduate Admissions, Rackham Graduate School, campus academic units and new employee orientation. Copies are also available at the U-M Computer Showcase, computing sites and information centers. Submit bulk order requests to danafair@umich.edu or call 763-8961.

DDA and AATA to fund extended service

The Ann Arbor Downtown Development Authority and the Ann Arbor Transportation Authority (AATA) have approved additional funding to extend the free downtown-campus area circulator. The University provides funding for the campus portion of the route. The Link provides service connecting the Oxford/Trotter student housing area, Central Campus and the South University, State Street, Main Street and Kerrytown areas. AATA has also recently initiated a new Route 2X Downtown-Campus Shuttle to campus destinations without stopping at the Medical Center. Route 2X passengers board at Plymouth Mall at 7:39, 8:09, 8:44, 9:14 and 9:44 a.m., Monday through Friday. The shuttle leaves the Michigan League for Plymouth Mall at 4:07, 4:37, 5:12 and 5:42 p.m. On the Liberty-University Route 12UL, service from 10 a.m.-4 p.m. has been eliminated. Routes 8 and 15 will continue to serve the area. AATA route, schedule and detour information is available at www.TheRide.org, or by calling (734) 996-0400.

Lane reduction in effect

A lane reduction on East University between South University and Willard streets is scheduled through Oct. 1 for demolition of a private apartment building. Two-way traffic is expected to be maintained, though it will be shifted into the parking lane on the west side of the street. Work will not be scheduled during football Saturdays.
