The Language of Clothes: Status, Gender and Law in the History of Attire in Japan, China and Great Britain, from Ancient through Modern Times, 5-10 p.m., Sept. 10 at the Michigan League, Michigan Room, is a workshop that explores how the practice of dressing may be read as a map of a country's cultural, social and political landscape throughout history.
