Regents meeting Jan. 22

The Board of Regents will have its monthly meeting at 3 p.m. Jan. 22 in the Regents Room of the Fleming Administration Building. Public comments on agenda items will be taken prior to their consideration. Comments on nonagenda items will follow the regular business agenda. People with disabilities who need assistance should contact the Office of the Vice President and Secretary of the University in advance at (734) 764-3883. Submissions sought for research funding

The 2009 Research Partnership Program offers funding opportunities for faculty and graduate students. The Spring/Summer Research Grants Program will award a maximum 40 grants to faculty to hire doctoral students to assist with research and scholarly projects, while providing financial support and experience to students. Two Sokol Grants for Faculty and Graduate Student Research Projects in the Sciences also are awarded as a part of this program. Guidelines and application forms are available at www.rackham.umich.edu/1724. The Distinguished Faculty and Graduate Student Seminars Program will provide a maximum of five awards to groups of faculty, students or graduate programs proposing innovative seminars and colloquia to foster collaboration and stimulate new research. The application deadline for the two awards is Feb. 2.
