The team that will be racing U-M's solar car 1,800 miles across Australia in October's Global Green Challenge unveiled its entry last week. From left, engineering students Dylan Keefe-Reitzell, John Federspiel, Ethan Lardner and Sudeep Rohatgi are on the team's race crew. The car, named Infinium, has a lithium-ion battery, space-grade solar cells comparable to those NASA uses in satellites, and an in-wheel electric motor designed for solar cars that peaks at 98 percent efficiency. Michigan won the 2008 North American Solar Challenge to become five-time champions in that race. Photo by Scott Galvin, U-M Photo Services.
