Neubacher Award nominations sought

The deadline is June 11 to submit nominations for the 20th Annual James T. Neubacher Award, established in 1990 as a memorial to Neubacher, an alumnus of the university, a columnist for the Detroit Free Press and a disability rights advocate. Nominees produce significant contributions to improve awareness, access, acceptance and full participation in society for persons with disabilities. The award includes a stipend provided by the Office of the President. Nominations are open to faculty, staff, students, and alumni of the university. Nominations can be made at www.hr.umich.edu/ability/neubacher.htm. The award is sponsored by the Office of Institutional Equity.

Voices of the Staff teams report successes

At the annual meeting of VOICES of the Staff volunteers Friday, network teams reported progress on a range of issues identified &through staff surveys. Topics included enhanced dental care and Wellness Assessments, extended hours for the commuter bus and the Green Ride car-share program, a new DVD celebrating diversity, and the Career Development Services Web site.
