Photos: Owens' watercolors in Taubman lobby

From the jungles of Sri Lanka to the mountains of Appalachia, Charles Owens draws on his travels as a young man to create the rich, saturated watercolors in his exhibit Natural World: Transparent Watercolors through Dec. 8 in the Taubman Center north lobby, Floor 1. The detail in his works, including "Military Macaws," top, and "Kestrals," left, is achieved with hundreds of minute, transparent washes, often applied with brushes no larger than a few hairs in width. The exhibit is Sponsored by Gifts of Art. (Photos by Charles Owens.)
