Career Development site offers detailed guidance

University Human Resources has launched a new U-M Career Development Services Web site at hr.umich.edu/career.

"Conceived by the Voices of the Staff Career Development Network, this site is a practical tool to help support the staff community in building a wonderful career at Michigan," says Laurita Thomas, associate vice president for Human Resources. "It offers a wealth of information including career self-assessment, career planning information and University resources."

A central element of the site is the career development navigator, which provides a step-by-step guide to career development for individual staff members.

It also serves as a framework for managers to help plan staff development in a structured way, and better motivate and support professional growth, Thomas says.
