Fitness program wins recognition

The Metabolic Fitness Program, formerly known as Mfit, has been presented with the Innovation Award from the American Association for Cardiovascular and Pulmonary Rehabilitation, which seeks to promote health and prevent disease. The award was designed to recognize a cardiac or pulmonary rehab program using creativity in patient care and program design to maintain excellence and expand services today and in the future.

Workshop proposals sought

Organizers of the Women of Color Task Force's 27th Annual Conference, set for Feb. 27, seek workshop proposals. New Campus Safety Handbook available

The 2008-09 edition of the U-M Campus Safety Handbook now is available. An electronic copy of the 34-page book is available on the Department of Public Safety Web site at police.umich.edu/docs/clery.pdf. The handbook is a resource for issues of campus safety, including emergency services, safety tips, University policies and state laws, and additional support services. Ideas to boost ergonomics sought

The MHealthy Ergonomics Awareness program urges staff and faculty members who are looking to purchase equipment, conduct training or redesign work processes to solve ergonomic problems to apply to the Ergo Grant Incentive Program. Applicants can receive up to $10,000 to make a work environment more safe and efficient. Also, units that have begun an ergonomic solution involving new equipment, equipment modification, training or work process redesign between July 2007-June 2008 can be nominated for the Effective Ergonomic Solutions Award.
