Regents Roundup

The following items were approved by the Board of Regents at its Nov. 19 meeting.

Schematic design approved for zoology museum renovations

The regents approved the design for the project to relocate the majority of the Museum of Zoology's collection from the Alexander G. Ruthven Museums Building to approximately 46,000 gross square feet of renovated space within the Varsity Drive Building, and to renovate approximately 6,800 gross square feet of space within Ruthven for the museum's teaching collection. The $17.6 million project is being funded from university investment proceeds and is scheduled to be completed in the summer of 2011.

Renovations planned at Wolverine Tower

Approximately 61,000 gross square feet on seven levels at Wolverine Tower will undergo renovations that will consolidate departments and result in the more efficient use of office and common spaces for the university's Business and Finance Division. The $6.3 million project will be funded from Business & Finance resources and is scheduled to be completed in the fall of 2011.

Biology laboratories to be updated at Kraus

Four different laboratories and associated support spaces on four floors at the Edward Henry Kraus Building will be updated in a combined project to provide modern research facilities for recently recruited faculty for the Department of Ecology and Evolutionary Biology and the Department of Molecular, Cellular and Developmental Biology. The renovations of approximately 5,900 gross square feet are estimated to cost $2.2 million, to be funded by LSA, and are scheduled to be completed in the fall of 2010.

Chiller to be replaced at Chemistry Building

A steam-absorption chiller at the Chemistry Building that has failed will be replaced with a more efficient electric chiller as part of the university's General Fund chiller replacement program. The $1.5 million project is scheduled to be completed in the fall of 2010.
