Don't miss: Gifts of Art presents live holiday music

Gifts of Art, which brings the world of art and music to UMHS year-round, is presenting holiday-themed music performances Dec. 17-24.

The show Seasonal Harmonies at 12:10 p.m. Dec. 17 in the University Hospital Main Lobby features Counterpoint. The group features vocal harmonies and arrangements performed by Peter Tchoryk, Kyle Rasmussen and Paul Olsztyn on trumpet, drums and guitar; and Laurie Williams, Deborah Davis and Debbie Colesa on vocals. Ken Davis also will perform on piano. The public is invited to bring jingle bells to help deck the halls.

Strolling Victorian Caroling by the group The Arbor Consort is presented from 1:30-4 p.m. Dec. 20 at University Hospital. In costumes of 19th-century England, this a cappella vocal ensemble will perform four-part harmonies in patient care areas. Selections will include well-known Victorian carols, some Hanukkah songs and European carols.

The program Jazz of the Season with guitar virtuoso Jake Reichbart is presented at 12:10 p.m. Dec. 24 in the University Hospital Main Lobby. For the past 20 years, guitarist Reichbart has been entertaining audiences in the Great Lakes region and beyond. Along the way, he has earned praise and awards for his performances and recordings.

While he is a bandleader and an in-demand sideman, Reichbart's forte is his instrumental solo work, as he interprets classic jazz and pop standards. For this concert, he will perform seasonal favorites interpreted and arranged in a new way.

Gifts of Art, a division of UMHS, seeks to use the arts to assist and enhance the healing process, reduce stress, support human dignity and renew the spirit.
