Online Kids Kare registration offers childcare backup

As part of the university's commitment to help faculty and staff meet the challenge of balancing work obligations with family commitments, the Work/Life Resource Center offers Kids Kare at Home. It is an emergency back-up option for times when regular childcare is unavailable, such as when a child needs to stay home due to illness, but the parent cannot take time away from work. A Kids Kare caregiver can be called to provide back-up care in the home. To use the program, register through Nov. 20 at Registration is free and there is no obligation to use the service. An hourly rate of service will be determined upon registration. Those who recently enrolled for service in 2009 must re-register for next year.

Submit holiday closing hours to Record

The University Record will compile a list of holiday closing and reduced service reminders to print in the Dec. 14 issue. Units that wish to be included in the publication must submit information by 5 p.m. Dec. 1. The Record does not publish Nov. 30. Remaining editions of The University Record this year are Nov. 16 and 23, and Dec. 7 and 14.

Phased street closures scheduled

From 6 a.m. today through 5 p.m. Thursday, workers will remove the first tower crane that was used to construct the new North Quad Academic and Residential Complex. This will require the phased closures of South State Street and East Washington Street. Access to the Thayer Street Parking Structure will be maintained via northbound South Thayer Street. The Phase 1 closure also involves South State Street, adjacent to the North Quad construction site, between East Huron and East Washington. All lanes will be closed to traffic. This section is scheduled to close at 6 a.m. today and re-open at 5 p.m. Thursday. For a map of the Phase 1 closure click here. (
