Dr. Carol Kauffman, chief of infectious diseases at the Veterans Administration Ann Arbor Healthcare System and professor of internal medicine in the Medical School, recently was presented the Great Internists of Michigan award by the Michigan chapter of the American College of Physicians. The award recognizes physicians who have demonstrated outstanding clinical abilities and performance along with service to the discipline, research and/or education. Kauffman's clinical and research interests include the diagnosis and treatment of fungal infections, especially in immunocompromised patients, and prevention and treatment of infections in older adults.
