6,500 students expect degrees

The gates of Michigan Stadium will open at 9:30 a.m. Saturday (May 1) for spring commencement, where Hillary Rodham Clinton will become the first first lady to give a U-M commencement address.

Some 6,500 students on the Ann Arbor campus expect their degrees this spring. The commencement ceremony begins at 11 a.m.

The all-University program will be open to graduating students from all schools and colleges and will serve as the principal commencement exercise for LS&A and the Horace H. Rackham School of Graduate Studies. All other schools and colleges will hold their own commencement exercises in addition to the all-University commencement.

Tickets will be distributed to graduating students 8 a.m.–4 p.m. Monday–Wednesday (April 26–28) in Room 17, Angell Hall.

If there is a sufficient number of tickets remaining, they also will be made available to faculty, staff, students who are not graduating and the general public via the Michigan Union Ticket Officet. An announcement of ticket availability will be made through the local media Thursday.
