D'Arms will deliver next Presidential Lecture Dec. 8

John H. D'Arms, vice provost for academic affairs and dean of the Horace H. Rackham School of Graduate Studies, will discuss "Ar duous, Pleasant and Hopeful toil: Values in and Beyond Graduate Education" at 4 p.m. Dec. 8 in Rackham Ampitheater. D'Arms is also the Gerald F. Else Professor of Classical Studies and professor of history.

The lecture is the second in the Presidential Lecture Series on Academic Values being held in conjunction with the University's 175th anniversary. Each lecture is followed by a discussion with faculty respondents, including moderator President James J. Dudertadt.

Panelists for this lecture include Huda Akil, professor of psychiatry and research scientist in the Mental Health Research Institute; Robert A. Weisbuch, professor and chanir of the Department of English Language and Literature; and Sheldon H. Danziger, professor of social work and public policy and research scientist in the Institute of Public Policy Studies.

A reception will follow in Assembly Hall.
