Moyer receives grant to
help prepare future
science teachers Richard Moyer, U-M-Dearborn
professor of science
education, has received a $59,399 grant from the
Dwight D.
Eisenhower Higher Education Professional Development Program
for an "Innovative Teacher Preparation Program Utilizing
Instructional
Technology." Moyer will develop innovative
teacher training programs in
science by launching
partnerships between the U-M-Dearborn, the Novi and
Westwood
public school districts, and Henry Ford Museum &
Greenfield
Village.

Ball appointed committee
member Arnetha F. Ball, assistant professor of education, has
been appointed to the Standing Committee on Research of the
National
Council of Teachers of English. The organization
works to improve the
teaching of English and the language
arts in the nation's schools and
colleges.

Nelms appointed, NCA/CIHE commissioner U-M-Flint Chancellor,
Charlie Nelms, has been appointed
to a four-year term as a commissioner
for the Commission on
Institutions of Higher Education of the North
Central
Association of Colleges and Schools (NCA/CIHE). The North
Central
Association of Colleges and Schools, founded in
1895, is a not-for-profit,
voluntary membership organization
of elementary, secondary and higher
education institutions
devoted to the improvement of education through
evaluation
and accreditation.
