Units list holiday hours, seasonal closings

As the holiday season approaches, a number of University units have reported scheduled closings or reductions in services.

 

The School of Natural Resources and Environment will close at 5 p.m. Dec. 24 and reopen at 8 a.m. Jan. 2.

 

The Division of Research Development and Administration (DRDA) also will close at 5 p.m. Dec. 24, reopening at 8 a.m. Jan. 2. Faculty, research staff and others who plan to process materials through DRDA Dec. 23-24 are reminded that a very limited staff will be available. Make arrangements with the appropriate project representative well in advance and ensure sufficient time for handling materials.

 

Financial Operations, including Student Financial Operations, will close at 2 p.m. Dec. 24 and reopen at 8 a.m. Jan. 2. The Central and North Campus cashier's offices will close at 4 p.m. Dec. 23, reopening at 8 a.m. Jan. 2.

 

The Payroll Office will be closed noon-2 p.m. today (Dec. 10) and 1:30-5 p.m. Wed. (Dec. 12). The office will close for the holidays at 4 p.m. Dec. 24, reopening at 7:30 a.m. Jan. 2.

 

The Benefits Office will be closed Dec. 25-Jan. 2.

 

The Harlan Hatcher Graduate Library will be closed Dec. 21-22, 24-25, 28-29, Dec. 31-Jan. 1, and Jan. 4-5. The library will be open from 1-5 p.m. Dec. 26-27 and Dec. 30. It also will be open 8 a.m.-5 p.m. Jan. 2-3 and 6-7. Regular winter hours begin Jan. 8.

 

The School of Social Work will be closed Dec. 24-Jan. 1, reopening on Jan. 2.

 

M-Stores General Supplies Division will close at 1 p.m. Thurs. (Dec. 12), reopening at 7:30 a.m. Dec. 13. M-Stores also will be closed Dec. 25-Jan. 1, reopening at 7:30 a.m. Jan. 2. Departments planning to remain open through the holidays are reminded to place orders by Dec. 20. For emergency needs, contact M-Stores at 998-7070.

 

Campus Mail Service will close at noon Thurs. (Dec. 12), reopening at 8 a.m. Fri. (Dec. 13) for normal service. Mail Service will close again at 5 p.m. on Dec. 24 for the holiday break and will reopen at 8 a.m. Jan. 2. There will be no Campus Mail, parcel post delivery or metered mail processed between Dec. 25 and Jan. 2.

Normal pickups and deliveries will be made on Dec. 24, but any mail brought directly to Mail Service must be in the building by 1 p.m. for processing before the holiday. Mail that must be mailed after the Dec. 24 deadline should be taken to the Arcade, Liberty Station, Green Road or Stadium post offices. Be prepared to pay postage and request a receipt for reimbursement purposes. Stamps may be obtained through the Cashier's Office in the LS&A building.

The U.S. Postal Service will deliver mail to those buildings requesting U.S. mail delivery during the holiday period, except for Dec. 25 and Jan. 1. Those requesting U.S. mail delivery during the holiday period should call Mail Service at 764-9227 no later than Dec. 17. Do not call the Post Office directly. If you request mail delivery, a staff member from your department or building must be available at your designated delivery location to receive U.S. mail.

Mail Service is prohibited by the Standard Practice Guide from delivering personal packages to University Departments. Personal packages should be sent to your home address.

Normal delivery schedules for all types of mail will resume on Jan. 2.

 

The Benefits Office will be closed Dec. 25-Jan. 2. and 11:30 a.m.-1:30 p.m. Dec. 18.

 

The Center for Statistical Consultation and Research (CSCAR) will close for the holidays at 5 p.m. Dec. 20 and reopen at 9 a.m. Jan. 3.

 

The Office of New Student Programs will be closed Dec. 25-Jan. 1, reopening at 8 a.m. Jan. 2.

 

Information Technology Division offices and services will be closed from Dec. 25-Jan. 1, reopening Jan. 2, except as noted below. Many technical infrastructure services (such as network operations), however, will run continuously during the holiday period.

ITD Networking Services: U-M switchboard operators (764-1817, or 0 from on-campus phones) will close on Dec. 25 and Jan. 1. Callers will hear a recorded message when the switchboard is unstaffed. The switchboard will be open from 8 a.m.-5 p.m. Dec. 26-31. Regular hours will resume at 8 a.m. Jan. 2.

Emergency telephone repair requests can be called in to 763-7138. The Residential Service Center will close at noon Dec. 24 and re-open at 9 a.m. on Jan. 2. Emergency data networking repair requests can be called in to 936-DATA.

UMTV, the campus cable television system, will continue to cablecast all channels as usual.

The ITD Accounts Office will close at 3 p.m. Dec. 24 and reopen at 8 a.m. on Jan. 2. E-mail and voice mail will be checked intermittently. Send emergency requests to itd.accounts@umich.edu or leave voice mail at 764-8000.

The U-M Computer Showcase will close at 5 p.m. Dec. 23, reopening Jan. 6 at 10 a.m.

The Instructional Technology Lab (ITL) will close from Dec. 25-Jan. 2. It will be open by card-key access only on Dec. 24 and Jan. 2-3. Regular hours resume Jan. 6.

Most ITD Campus Computing Sites will begin reduced hours on Dec. 20. All sites will be closed Dec. 25, 28-29 and Jan. 1. Angell Hall and NUBS will be open for limited hours on Dec. 26-27, 30-31; all other sites will be closed on these days. The 764-HELP telephone consulting help line will close at noon on Dec. 24 and be closed on Dec. 25, 28, 29 and Jan. 1. The line will be open 1-5 p.m. Dec. 26, 27, 30 and 31. Regular hours will resume at 8 a.m. Jan. 2.

Administrative Hotline (763-0107) will close at noon Dec. 24 and resume regular hours at 8 a.m. Jan. 2.

DSC Network Services Operations (763-4000) will be closed Dec. 25, 28-29 and Jan. 1. They will be open 8 a.m.-4 p.m. Dec. 26-27 and 30-31. Regular hours will resume at 8 a.m. Jan. 2.

ITD Non-Credit Computing Workshops will not be offered from Dec. 23-Jan. 3. The ITD workshop reservation line (763-3700) will close at 4 p.m. on Dec. 20, reopening at 8:30 a.m. Jan. 6.
