Regents accept $16.9 million in gifts to the University
At their January meeting, the Regents formally accepted a total of $16,962,857 in gifts received by the University during Dec. 1996.

The total included $10,147,377 from individuals, $2,982,206 from corporations, $2,651,415 from foundations, and $1,181,859 from associations and others.

 

Faculty appointments and promotions announced
Faculty appointments and promotions, with tenure, approved by the Regents included:

Mathilde Clara Regina Beatrix Peters, a faculty member at the University of Adelaide, Australia, will become professor of dentistry, effective Feb. 1.

William R. Roush, a faculty member at Indiana University, will be professor of chemistry and the Warner-Lambert/Parke-Davis Professor of Chemistry, effective July 1.

Ennio S. Stacchetti, associate professor of economics, was promoted to professor of economics, effective Jan. 1.

 

Warren will hold named professorship in pathology
Jeffrey S. Warren, associate professor of pathology, will also hold the Aldred Scott Warthin-Carl Vernon Weller Professorship of Pathology.

His appointment to the Warthin-Weller Professorship, effective June 1, was approved by the Regents. The professorship was established in 1988. Warthin and Weller both served as chair of the Department of Pathology and were prominent academic pathologists.

"Since his arrival at this institution in 1987, Dr. Warren has established an outstanding record of scholarly productivity and administrative contributions in the area of clinical immunopathology and was named director of the Division of Clinical Pathology in 1993," says A. Lorris Betz, interim dean of the Medical School. "In addition to heavy clinical and service demands, Dr. Warren continues to maintain a successful research program."
