propose bylaw change
Below is a proposed revision to Regents' Bylaw Section 5.07:
Administrative Officers of Other University Units. Deletions are
crossed out; there are no additions.

Officers of Other University Units
Administrative officers of units other than those covered by Sec. 5.06 shall be appointed to the Board on recommendation by the president. They shall perform such administrative duties as are prescribed by the appropriate University authorities. Appointments to such administrative positions are for stated terms, without tenure , and may be terminated upon the request of the appointee for relief from administrative duties or by action of the Board.
CHGD
sponsors health and
development grants
The Center for Human Growth and Development (CHGD) invites faculty to
submit applications for $5,000--$10,000 awards for research related
to the health and development of children who grow up in poverty.
Grants will support pilot studies, new research or special analyses
of ongoing projects that explore physical health and psychosocial
development of children in poor U.S. communities. The application
deadline is Oct. 31. Awards will be announced in November. For more

Dates
set for service award events
Service awards events for staff members will be held on the dates
listed below. Recipients will receive award order information in
August, with invitations to follow. Thirty- and 40-year recipients
will be contacted by the Office of Human Resources and Affirmative
Action (HR/AA) to set up appointments for pictures.
10 years - Nov. 4 - Open House at Alumni Center
20 years - Nov. 12 - Dinner reception at the Michigan League
30 & 40 years - Nov. 19 - Dinner reception at the Michigan League

League
holds retirement reception
for Kenneth Chapman
A retirement reception will be held 11 a.m.--2 p.m. July 1 for
Kenneth Chapman, food services worker in the Michigan League. The
reception will be held at the Michigan League Buffet. Chapman,
recognized as the Outstanding Employee of the Year in 1993, retires
after 30 years of service.
Taubman
offers U-M Medline classes
The Taubman Medical Library is offering a hands-on workshop on U-M
Medline noon--1:30 p.m. Mon. (June 30) and July 15 in University
Hospital, Room 2C228. The workshop orients participants to basic and
advanced search features of the system. Registration is required. For

Schubert,
Mendelssohn and Brahms exhibit opens at Special Collections
Library
The Special Collections Library will display "Glimpses into the
Worlds of Schubert, Mendelssohn, and Brahms" through Sept. 20. The
exhibit focuses on the lives and works of thesecomposers and
performers, and includes autographs, first and early printed editions
and title pages from their works. For more information, contact

Registration
for summer programs at Yost is under way
Yost Ice Arena has announced its programs for the summer. The
registration deadline for the following programs is July 7. For more
information, call 764-4600.
Learn-to-Skate: Program runs 1--1:50 p.m. Sundays July 13--Aug. 24. Cost is $49. Helmets are recommended for children under age 8 and required for children under age 5.
Youth Hockey Clinics: Program runs 11 a.m.--12:20 p.m. (session 1) and 12:30-1:50 p.m. (session 2) Saturdays July 12--Aug. 23. Cost is $84 or $12 per meeting. The sessions are open to children ages 6--10 with a 30-player limit per session. Full equipment is required and hockey skate rental is available.
Adult Hockey Clinics: Program runs 7--8:20 a.m. Fridays July 18--Aug. 29. Cost is $49. Full equipment is required and hockey skate rental is available.
Adult Hockey Leagues: Men's and women's leagues for USA Hockey-registered players play Fridays and Saturdays July 19--Aug. 23. Cost is $75 per person or $750 per team. Each team is guaranteed six games, including a first-round playoff game.
M-Stores
releases customer survey
M-Stores Computer Procurement Team (CPT) has placed its customer
survey on the Web. CPT seeks responses from customers regarding
pricing, products and other services. Beginning July 1, the CPT
pricing catalog will be available on-line.
M-Stores now provides technical assistance for installations and has a pickup window, open 7:30 a.m.--5 p.m. daily.

Memorial
service set for Griffin
Prof. Emeritus James B. Griffin, longtime director of the Museum of
Anthropology, died May 31. The Museum and the Griffin family are
hosting a memorial in honor of his life and achievements 3:30-5 p.m.
Sat. (June 28) in the East Conference Room, Rackham Bldg. Friends and
colleagues who would like to contribute a few words but are unable to

U-M-Flint
offers dance minor
The U-M-Flint Theatre Department is offering a minor in dance. The
minor provides concentrated study in dance technique, history,
composition and performance supplemented by elective options in stage
lighting, voice and movement, and the fundamentals of music. It is
geared toward students majoring in fields other than theater who wish
to balance their studies with formal training in dance. For more

Reimbursement
accounts cutoffs
To guarantee reimbursement in their July paycheck, Benefit
Reimbursement Account participants should submit claims to the
Benefits Office (Central Campus), Wolverine Towers G-405, 3003 S.
State St., by July 9 for bi-weekly pay periods or July 21 for monthly
pay. The Benefit Reimbursement cutoff dates are also available on the
Benefits home page (http://www.umich.edu/~benefits) under "Your Taxes
& Benefits."
