Move-In activities change traffic flow on Central Campus area streets
From University Housing
A number of streets within and near Central Campus and the "Hill" residence halls will have non-standard traffic flow 6 a.m. Sept. 1 to 10 p.m. Sept. 3 to accommodate annual "Move-In" activities. Directional changes are shown on the accompanying map. (The Washington Heights change will begin at 6 a.m. Aug. 31.)
These streets will be busiest 9 a.m.-4 p.m. and 6-9 p.m. Routes near residence halls will have barricades at both ends, with security and police personnel directing traffic to unloading zones. Regular city traffic is allowed along barricaded streets. However, there will usually be only one travel lane. In addition, overnight parking next to residence halls will not be permitted during the Move-In period.
Faculty and staff are encouraged to travel to and from work before 9 a.m. and 4-6 p.m. when there will be less Move-In traffic. Several staff parking lots will be closed during Move-In. They include:
On Central Campus-Thompson Street surface lot across from West Quad, Triangle lot at the corner of Madison, Thompson and Packard, Lot W1 off Monroe behind South Quad, several spaces in the Thompson Street structure.
In the Hill area-Small lot off Zina Pitcher Place, Washington Heights lot across from Markley, east portion of M26 lot near Mott Hospital (pending completion of M22 structure).
