ER has become 'front door' of Hospital

The Emergency Room at University Hospital is 'over capacity' 16 of 24 hours each day. Because of the physical setup and staffing and equipment issues, patients cannot be moved to adjacent areas. Renovation of the area and construction of additional space will address that problem. The ER has become the 'front door' of the Hospital, with 36 percent of all admissions originating there.
