Katherine Kurtz has been appointed associate vice president for development, effective Sept. 1. Her appointment was approved by the Regents at their June meeting.
Kurtz has been LS&A assistant dean for development since 1993.
"As a member of the senior management team for the University Development Office, Ms. Kurtz will plan and direct central University development programs, including major gifts and planned giving and related support areas," said Susan K. Feagin, vice president for development, in recommending the appointment.
"In her present LS&A position, Ms. Kurtz worked closely with the dean and academic leadership of the College to plan and direct LS&A's highly successful portion of the Campaign for Michigan. During that Campaign, the College raised approximately $180 million.
"Ms. Kurtz has worked highly effectively with her colleagues throughout the University, and has served on several Universitywide planning teams for development. She is held in high regard by her associates in development and all levels throughout the University."
Kurtz received her B.A. in 1969 and her master's in 1971, both from Western Michigan University. Since 1973, she has served in several development and administrative positions in the University and LS&A.
