En garde!

More than 900 3rd- and 4th-graders from area schools met nearly 1,000 U-M students they felt they knew, but had never met face-to-face. They were all participants in K-Grams, a program that pairs U-M students with grade school children through e-mail in a pen pal program. They send e-mail once a month to keep in touch. The Kids' Fair allowed them to get together for fun and frolic--and fencing, among other activities. Photo by Bob Kalmbach

Watch Out for April Showers

Karl-Georg Federhofer, lecturer in Germanic languages and literatures, held class outside last week on one of the first warm spring days--in the fountain. Fortuanately, water is not scheduled to flow in the University's fountain until May. Photo by Bob Kalmbach
