1999 Research Partnership Program for the Support of Scholarship, Research and Graduate Education

The 1999 Research Partnership Program, sponsored jointly by the dean of the Horace H. Rackham School of Graduate Studies and the vice president for research, is available to faculty and graduate students. The funding opportunities include the following:

• The Spring/Summer Research Grants Program will award a minimum of 30 grants to faculty to enable them to hire doctoral students to assist with their research and scholarly projects while providing both financial support and tasks of intellectual benefit to participating doctoral students.

• The Distinguished Faculty and Graduate Student Seminars Program will provide a maximum of 10 awards to groups of faculty, students or graduate programs proposing innovative seminars and colloquia to foster collaboration and stimulate new research.

DRDA’s Proposal Writing Workshop

This workshop is an intensive overview of the narrative portion of a proposal from the perspective of the reviewer. Areas covered include: approaching a sponsor, components of a narrative (including budget), matching the narrative to the sponsor’s priorities and guidelines, writing style, and common errors to avoid. Sample proposals will be reviewed, and there will be plenty of opportunity for questions and answers. The workshop will be presented by Chris Kahan Black 8:30 a.m. Feb. 23 in Suite 18, Wolverine Tower.
