19 primary researchers receive promotions

Nineteen primary researchers have received promotions, effective Sept 1.

In announcing the promotions, Vice President for Research Fawwaz T. Ulaby said: “The very high quality of the research contributions cited in the dossiers supporting the primary research faculty we approved for promotion this year is a testament to the important and crucial role primary researchers play in advancing the research mission of the University.

“I offer each my heartiest congratulations and also express my gratitude to the operating units for their efforts to provide objective documentation of the nominees.”

  • Those promoted to research scientist, and their units, are:

    Janet Kozyra and Vladimir Papitashvili, both of the Department of Atmospheric, Oceanic and Space Sciences; John Whitaker, Department of Electrical Engineering and Computer Science; Theresa Lee and Diane Robins, Reproductive Sciences Program; and Carol Midgley, School of Education.

  • Those promoted to associate research scientist are:

    William Cook, Department of Atmospheric, Oceanic and Space Sciences; James Moyne, Department of Electrical Engineering and Computer Science; Jinfan Huang, Department of Chemistry; Gregg Gunnell and Miriam Zelditch, both of the Museum of Paleontology; Boris Dubetsky, Department of Physics; and David Ronis, School of Nursing.

  • Those promoted to assistant research scientist are:

    Scott Bradford, Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering; David Raffel and Scott Snyder, both of the Department of Internal Medicine; and Daniel Clemans, Department of Pediatrics and Communicable Diseases.
