Benefits Office launches 24-hour AnswerLine

From the Benefits Office

Faculty and staff can now have access to benefits information 24 hours a day, seven days a week. By calling the new Benefits AnswerLine with a touch-tone phone, faculty and staff can hear recorded benefits information and have benefits forms faxed directly to their home or office fax machine. More than 40 frequently used forms and topics are available. More will be added weekly.

“The Benefits AnswerLine is just one way in which we strive to help faculty and staff manage their benefits effectively,” says Marty Eichstadt, interim executive director of Human Resources/Affirmative Action. Eichstadt says that the new Benefits AnswerLine will be good for people who work unusual schedules, do not have access to e-mail or the Web, or whose schedules do not enable them to go to one of the four Benefits Offices. “It’s also good for those night owls who realize they need information or a form at midnight or 2 a.m.,” Eichstadt says.

The Benefits AnswerLine uses interactive voice technology provided by the Health System’s TeleCare program. The Medical Campus HRD Employee JobLine also shares this resource. Access is available only through a touch-tone phone.

Call the Benefits AnswerLine at 647-2375. A greeting and a series of prompts will guide individuals to the information they want. Select category 6150 to be directed to the Benefits AnswerLine main directory where one can choose from #1, Benefits Offices hours and locations; #2, benefits forms by fax; #3, Open Enrollment information; #4, retirement information; #5, other benefits information resources.
