Stockwell renovation

Currently undergoing comprehensive renovation, Stockwell Hall will reopen in Fall 2009 with updated mechanical, electrical and plumbing infrastructure, air conditioning and wireless Internet access throughout. While the distinctive architectural character of the residence hall will be maintained, the interior courtyard adjacent to the Stockwell lounge has been capped with a glass peak and opened up to reveal new community spaces below (formerly the dining hall and kitchen). Renovations include a new house lounge with kitchen, recreation space, informal performance areas, music practice room and a new Community Learning Center. The renovation of Stockwell Hall is part of the Residential Live Initiatives, a planned approach to improving and expanding the residential experience at U-M, and strengthening the connection of living and learning.
