Nominees sought for Distinguished Diversity Leaders Awards
Nominations are now being accepted for the 2009 Distinguished Diversity Leaders Award. The award was established to shine a light on staff members who work toward achieving a welcoming, supportive and inclusive work environment. As many as 10 individual and five team awards are made. Nominations are due by July 13.

Michigan Television takes regional Emmys
U-M’s public television service, Michigan Television, won six Emmy awards from the Michigan Chapter of the National Academy of Television Arts and Sciences, including two for collaborations with the School of Art & Design PLAY Gallery and the Digital Media Commons.

Getting active is good for your bones
While physical activity benefits the heart, lungs, and other vital organs, it is just as important for a healthy skeletal system. U-M researchers say weight-bearing exercises such as running, jumping and dancing can strengthen bones, but the benefits are greatest during adolescence.
