U-M photographers win awards in national competition

Two Photo Services photographers took several honors recently in the University Photographers' Association of America’s Annual Print Competition.

Martin Vloet was named Photographer of the Year and took first place in three categories: Sports Features, Science and Research, and Features and Illustrations. He also received honorable mention in Sports Features.

Scott Galvin took first place in Sports Action and People and Portraits, and honorable mention in Features and Illustrations.

Vloet previously was named Photographer of the Year in 2006 and Galvin took the honor in 2007.

U-M also won awards in the UPAA’s Publications Competition: first place for Publication Covers, third place for View Books and third place for Printed Advertisement.

The Annual Print Competition is open to submissions from university photographers across the country, and from UPAA members in Canada, Israel, and Australia.
