Coleman named a top college president by Time

Time magazine has named President Mary Sue Coleman one of the nation’s 10 Best College Presidents.

In its current issue, Time lauds Coleman for her fundraising abilities, specifically noting her leadership of the six-year, $3.2 billion Michigan Difference campaign. It also notes her efforts to build a strong relationship with the city of Detroit, of which she says, “We have a responsibility to use our strengths and our economic muscle to help with Detroit’s recovery and resurgence.”

Other presidents making the list include Gordon Gee of The Ohio State University; John Sexton, New York University, NYC; Michael Crow, Arizona State University, Tempe; Scott Cowen, Tulane University, New Orleans; Ronald Liebowitz, Middlebury College, Middlebury, Vt.; Freeman Hrabowski, University of Maryland, Baltimore County, Baltimore; Eduardo Padron, Miami Dade College, Miami; Juliet Garcia, University of Texas at Brownsville; and Mark Yudof, University of California, Oakland.
