University announces distribution plan for commencement tickets
University and Development Events has determined dates for distribution of tickets for Spring Commencement. President Barack Obama is the speaker for the 11 a.m. May 1 event in Michigan Stadium. After students have received their allotment of tickets — eight for undergraduates and four for graduate students — organizers hope to have some available for the university community and general public.
• Event planners at U-M have outlined the procedures and guidelines for anyone who is planning to attend Spring Commencement.

U-M plans e-waste recycling event for individuals and organizations
The Office of Campus Sustainability and Ann Arbor Public Schools are sponsoring free e-waste recycling events designed to help area residents, small businesses and non-profits recycle electronics in an earth-friendly way. The e-waste disposal opportunity occurs over three days, and is part of U-M’s month-long commemoration of the 40th anniversary of Earth Day.

Census promotion on Diag, North Campus includes giveaways, information
University leaders promoting participation in the 2010 U.S. census are invoking the names of Ohio State and Michigan State, hoping U-M students will try to outpace these rival schools in responding to the decennial population count. To encourage students to fill out forms, U.S. Census Bureau staff will present free giveaways on the Diag and on North Campus on Wednesday.

U-M student hurt in house fire that fatally injured EMU student
A U-M student was treated and released from University Hospital on Saturday for injuries received in an early morning off-campus house fire that resulted in the death of an Eastern Michigan University student. The Department of Public Safety has issued a Crime Alert related to this and several other suspicious fires Saturday.

Three generations of aero engineers
Over the course of three generations, the Criel family has witnessed much of the history of the Department of Aerospace Engineering. Harry Criel, his son Todd and grandson Ben all graduated with Bachelor of Science in Engineering degrees through the department.
