ISR researcher part of effort to showcase NSF
funding benefits

Frank Stafford, right, professor of economics and a research professor at the Institute for Social Research’s Survey Research Center, visits with National Science Foundation Director Arden Bement at a Washington, D.C., reception focusing on how NSF research is helping the nation on a wide range of science issues. Stafford helps lead the Panel Study of Income Dynamics, which tracks Americans on a number of economic-based research projects. In Washington, he presented information that focused on how the sub-prime mortgage crisis impacted numerous families through huge debts on their homes. The exhibition was organized by the Coalition for National Science Funding, an advocacy group based in Washington, and of which U-M is a member. The exhibition's goal was to show Congress how investments in NSF funding pay off for society.  (Photo by Mike Waring, U-M Washington Office)
