Commencement street closures and parking update

In advance of Saturday’s commencement activities, university officials remind the campus community to remove cars from some parking lots and that some streets near Michigan Stadium will be closed.

Parking

Due to increased security, some lots that are closer to the stadium will be closed or allow restricted parking only. All vehicles must be removed from these lots by 11:59 p.m. Friday or they will be towed. The lots include:

• SC2 — Blue lot between Keech and Hoover
• SC3 — Service Center at Admin Services Building
• SC4 — Yellow lot on Kipke Drive
• SC5 — Yellow lot on Kipke Drive
• SC6 — Orange lot west of Kipke Drive
• SC7 — Orange lot east of Kipke Drive
• SC11 — U-M Business Vehicle lot on Hoover St. at the Physical Properties Building
• SC32 — Visitor lot on Greene Street
• SC35 — Yellow lot between Keech and Hoover
• SC38 — Yellow lot on the southwest corner of Hill and Division
• SC41 — Orange lot on Hoover

On-call staff and staff with regular work schedules on Saturday may park in any lot north of Hoover, except SC38. A security check point will be maintained at the intersection of Greene and Hoover. No one will be able to access this area without proper authorization and clearance.

This map shows campus and off-campus lots serving commencement guest parking on Saturday. U-M staff who need to be on campus are encouraged to find alternative parking locations. The lots are:

• Hill Street structure
• Thompson Street structure
• Church Street structure
• Fletcher Street structure
• Palmer Drive structure
• Thayer Street structure
• Perry Building Lot
• Student Activities Building Lot
• Thompson Street Lot
• Coliseum Lot (South Campus)
• Hubbard/Hayward Lots 46 and 53 (North Campus)

Street closures

The following streets will be closed from 11:59 p.m. Friday through 2 p.m. Saturday.

• Kipke Drive — Closed to all vehicles and pedestrians.

• South Main Street — Closed to all vehicles (between Pauline Boulevard and East Stadium Boulevard), open for pedestrians.

• Keech Avenue — Restricted vehicle access (between South Main Street and Greene Street) for shuttle bus traffic, open for pedestrians.

• Greene Street — Restricted vehicle access (between Hoover Avenue and Keech Avenue) for shuttle bus traffic, open for pedestrians.

• East Stadium Boulevard — Restricted vehicle access on one lane of westbound East Stadium Boulevard (from Stadium Way to South Main Street) for shuttle bus traffic, open for pedestrians.

Traffic will be detoured around the South Main Street section closure onto Pauline Boulevard, South Seventh Street and Scio Church Road. Signage will be posted directing drivers to this detour. If traffic is further rerouted to accommodate arrival of the president’s motorcade, police will instruct drivers on alternative routes.

Bus Service
Normal U-M bus service will be limited to the spring/summer Northwood route.
