Part of East Medical Center Drive to close next week

A section of East Medical Center Drive, the main “ring road” around the medical campus, will be closed in both directions from 6 a.m. Monday through the evening of May 14.

Map of the area affected by the closure.

The closure for water main construction will affect a short stretch of roadway near the new Children’s and Women’s Hospital construction project.

All entrances to U-M medical facilities and parking structures will remain open during the project. Detour signs and public safety officials will direct drivers to major destinations on the medical campus.

To help traffic flow, Washington Heights will be converted to temporary two-way traffic Monday through May14. Buses operated by U-M and the Ann Arbor Transportation Authority will be re-routed during the closure period.  Route and stop changes will be posted on bus stops, aboard U-M buses, and on the Web.

Please note that inclement weather may prolong the construction activities and the associated closure.
