Regents approve golf practice facility,
chiller plant expansion
The Board of Regents approved the following items Thursday:
New golf practice facility planned
The Board of Regents gave initial approval for a new indoor golf practice facility, to be located at the existing driving range of the university golf course. New construction of approximately 10,000 gross square feet will provide year-round practice areas for putting and chipping, driving bays, locker rooms, and support spaces for the men’s and women’s varsity golf teams. The $2.5 million project will be funded from Athletic Department resources and gifts.
North Campus Chiller Plant to be expanded
An $8.7 million expansion of the North Campus Chiller Plant is planned that will allow the elimination of several individual building chillers on North Campus and save an estimated $100,000 per year in operating costs. An expansion of approximately 8,500 gross square feet for two new 1,300-ton chillers is planned. The project will be funded from American Recovery and Reinvestment Act of 2009 funds via the State of Michigan Fiscal Stabilization Fund Program, General Fund resources and Utility resources, and is scheduled to be completed in the fall of 2011.
