ITS food drive aids effort to help the hungry

Once again, Information and Technology Services employees have opened their hearts — and their cupboards — to help the hungry of Washtenaw County.

“During the recent ITS Spring Food Drive for Food Gatherers, my group collected $2,825 and more than 300 pounds of food,” says coordinator Jeanne Horvath, senior business systems analyst for ITS.

Through their generosity, ITS employees attained “Big Rutabaga” status for the fourth straight year. The Big Rutabaga is one of the sponsorship levels for the annual Food Gatherers’ fundraiser, “Grillin’ for Food Gatherers.” This year, the event will take place from 3-8 p.m. June 13 at the Washtenaw Farm Council Grounds near Saline. Michigan’s first food-rescue program, Food Gatherers has distributed more than 40 million pounds of food throughout Washtenaw County during the last 22 years.
