University Human Resources has prepared a brief video about member-engagement health plans, a concept U-M officials are studying that would offer monetary incentives to employees who maintain and manage good health. EarthFest celebrates and puts focus on U-M sustainability efforts
The university is planning “a party for the planet” this week with EarthFest, two days designed to educate students, faculty and staff about sustainability-related activities at U-M. Events will be from 10 a.m.-2 p.m. Tuesday on Central Campus, and from 10 a.m.-2 p.m. Thursday on North Campus.

‘Go Blue Challenge’ encourages run/walk event participation
In support of this year’s annual Big House Big Heart Run (BHBH), U-M leadership has issued a “Go Blue Challenge” to every U-M department, school and college. U-M areas are asked to form a BHBH team and participate in any of the run/walk events taking place Oct. 3.

Bridging cultures with books
After six months teaching English and running a drama club on a Fulbright Fellowship in Kasakhstan, Mary Jo Kietzman Gifford, an associate professor at UM-Flint, hit upon an idea to continue the literature lessons for the Kazakh girls she had been teaching. She is working with UM-Flint graduate students to create on online book club that gives her former students a chance to continue developing their language skills and a community of people with whom to exchange ideas.
