Regent Julia Donovan Darlow (left) presents the James T. Neubacher Award to Barbara Kornblau, a professor in the UM-Flint School of Health Professions and Studies. The award is presented as a memorial to Neubacher, a U-M alumnus who was a columnist for The Detroit Free Press and an advocate for equal rights and opportunities for people with disabilities. It is presented as part of Investing in Abilities Week. Kornblau was a leading advocate for the inclusion of persons with disabilities in the recent racial and ethnic disparities sections of national health care reform legislation.
