Website features new UMHS ad, Michigan Difference stories

A new version of the Michigan Difference television ad, with its stringed-instrument rendition of “The Victors” and images of those whose lives have been saved and improved by the U-M Health System, debuts this Labor Day weekend.

Set to air during the opening football game against Western Michigan University, the newest spot focuses on the C.S. Mott Children’s Hospital and Von Voigtlander Women’s Hospital, with a new building scheduled to open this fall.

The campaign began in 2005, and due to its success has been updated at this time each year, says Dave Brudon, director of marketing.

“Every day the University of Michigan Health System is home to countless examples of the dedication and commitment of our faculty, staff and students to our patients and their families,” Brudon wrote in an email to UMHS employees.

“There you can read about the patients, families, faculty, nurses and staff who have been featured in our campaigns and learn more about the real victors at Michigan: our patients and their families and their extraordinary journeys while in our care,” Brudon wrote.

One feature on the site called “Operation Hollywood,” is a behind-the-scenes look at what goes into making a Michigan Difference TV commercial.
